Summer Day Camp at Jon Walker Stables in Gastonia, North Carolina is about horsemanship, sportsmanship and enjoying the connection with horses and friends. During JWS summer camps, children can attune to nature and unplug from technology while gaining communication skills, leadership skills and fostering independence.
Lifelong friendships have been made through the years at our camps. We have knowledgeable, dedicated instructors and wonderful trusting horses at a great facility. Children learn all aspects of horsemanship while enjoying the thrill of learning to ride. We divide up the groups accordingly. All our camp staff work and ride horses at JWS. Carolyn Walker is the riding instructor and the camp manager. Friday afternoons will be a special presentation with a horse show, so your camper can present their riding skills they have learned!
Safety is our top priority: All campers are required to wear a helmet while working around horses. We do supply helmets, but we suggest you bring your own horseback riding helmet. Please no bicycle helmets.
Short or tall boots with a small heel for safety, riding pants or leggings for comfortable riding and a pair of shorts and sneakers for other activities. Pack a lunch and sunscreen. We provide snacks, water bottles, supplies for arts & crafts, games. We will have a horse decorating contest with great prizes, pony painting, trail rides, water activities, and a horse show!
Camp limited to 15-20 kids depending on the levels. Ages 5 & up
