Jon & Carolyn Walker- Owners
Husband and Wife owners of Jon Walker Stables & Riding Academy Inc., Carolyn and Jon Walker have a true dedication and passion for teaching and training the discipline of English riding, better known as Saddleseat. Jon specializes in the training of the following breeds: American Saddlebreds, Friesians, Roadhorses, and Hackneys. Carolyn specializes in the fundamentals of riding horses and horsemanship. She also gifted in the areas of equitation and has numerous National Champion riders.
Jon Walker Stables has been in business serving the Charlotte area with a standard of excellence in horsemanship since 1995. Jon is a National & World Champion Trainer in the Saddlebred, the Road Horse, and Friesian Division. Amongst his peers, he is recognized as an honest, hard-working and professional horseman. Jon is a gifted horseman in many ways: training the horse and rider as a successful team, understanding each horse’s demeanor, and therefore gifted at pairing horse and amateur rider. He’s also very talented from the starting of a young prospect, to correcting behavioral problems that some horses may already have. He has satisfied customers that have been with him 20+ years, both locally and out of state. He is a proud member of American Saddlebred Horse Association, United States Equestrian Federation, American Road Horse and Pony Association, American Saddlebred Association of the Carolinas, United Professional Horseman’s Association. He currently serves as the Vice-President of the American Road Horse and Pony Association.
Carolyn Walker- Riding Instructor
Carolyn grew up riding Saddle Seat Equitation under the direction of Myrna Jacobs, and the late Dick Gray, one of the best equitation instructors in the industry. Carolyn showed Saddle Seat equitation for several years in her teens, until she went to college. She later returned to the show ring in 1998, and has been riding and showing ever since. Her love of horses is paired with her love of people. She had a very successful direct sales company from 1999-2014 that has prepared her in the area of customer service and satisfaction.
Carolyn is also a proud member of American Saddlebred Horse Association, United States Equestrian Federation, American Road Horse and Pony Association, American Saddlebred Association of the Carolinas, United Professional Horseman’s Association. She currently serves as the Corresponding Secretary of the American Saddlebred Horse Association of the Carolinas.
Her goal is to teach these riders to do their absolute BEST in the Saddle, AND in Life.
